(Revised 3/27/00) I did ok, not too shabby (4 out of 6). My biggest disappointment of the night was that The Insider didn't win Best Adapted Screenplay. The Insider was robbed, plain and simple. Not that The Cider House Rules was undeserving, it wasn't. But as a screenplay I believe that The Insider was better. Besides, the fact that The Insider received 7 nominations (tied with American Beauty) and went home with none is a crime. However, that said, I did enjoy the looooong show and was very impressed with the staging and (as always) Billy Crystal. They should just give him the Oscar job permanently. Robin Williams redition of "Blame Canada" was hysterical. I think if the Academy members had had that version to listen to it may have won. Michael Caine's acceptance speech was by far the best of the evening, sincere, humble, and heartfelt. What a guy.

I had a lot of trouble making my choices in all the categories so even if my picks don't win I'll still be happy with the results. This is a very rare Oscar year.
