Quentin Tarantino pens this B-movie script thst gives a bunch of overactors (Walken, Saul Rubinek, Bronson Pinchot, Gary Oldman) a chance to shine. An all-star cast makes this atypical lovers-on-the-lam tale surprisingly entertaining. Tarantino's infamous eye for genre movies is taken to the maximum here, but this film is just... it transcends the banality of its story and has you in for a wild ride. Everyone gets a chance to chew the scenery to a pulp, amnd the result is extremely entertaining.

This movie never got the appreciation it deserved. It is Quentin Tarantino's second best effort (behind "Pulp Fiction"), and has some monster performances by the huge talented cast.

"True Romance" stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette as two strangers who meet in an unorthodox way, fall in love, and get married. This might sound like a boring concept for a movie, but trust me, after tho two's relationship is established, the movie takes some clever turns and introduces us to some hilarious characters, like Dennis Hopper as Slater's philosophic-in-the-face-of-death father, Christopher Walken as a mob boss, who is educated by Hopper in the movie's best scene, Brad Pitt as a freeloader who smokes pot out of a plastic honey bear, and the brilliantly versatile Gary Oldman, looking unrecognizable as a Jamaican drug dealer (with dreads!!).

This is a hilarious and engaging movie. Go on out and rent it. It's definitely worth your time.

reading the screenplay was almost as enjoyable as watching the film .. where a lot of films simply use dialogue as transitional material between action, in this film (as with tarantino films in general) the dialogue outplays the action.

Can Gary Oldman play any more whacked out characters? Interesting screenplay and slightly twisted action film on the whacked out things that happen in life. Love at first sight with guns.

I thought this movie was cool. You could see the Tarantino influence (since he wrote the script).

I need to see this one again because 1) I remember that Brad Pitt did an excellent job portraying a stoner, and I need to be reminded of his acting abilities, and 2) I'm working on a Christopher Walken impersonation, and there aren't many Walken scenes more classic than the execution of Dennis Hopper's character.

This wasn't too bad but I don't have any vivid memories of it either.

This is one of my top favorites! There are many big names in it: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken. I almost did not watch it due to the name, but a friend forced me, and I became enraptured immediately.
