The beginning - a reconstruction of the scandalous premiere of The Rite of Spring - is great. In fact, it first seems like Jan Kounen is finally using his visual skills for something mature and worthwhile. But the following passion play remains somewhat shallow. The styling is perfect and everything is beautiful to look at, but the affair grows tedious and the characters uninspiring.
