Having not read the reviews or knowing anything about this movie. and after wondering what the heck this movie was going to be about after the first opening scenes. it developed into a pretty decent movie.

Refreshing palette cleanser of closely observed human nature, full of alternately amusingly and heartbreakingly recognizable bits and pieces of everyday behavior. Acting of course follows suit; it's not as strong as the writing, but it's a sturdy, sympathetic cast that knows what it's doing, none more so than Catherine Keener, who should be knighted for her tirelessly honest work in these kinds of holes. This must be her 500th sterling performance of the same general nature; it's hard to even appreciate anymore, but we should. She's awesome.

Nice return to form from Nicole Holofcener, with well-written characters, fine acting, etc. This is probably about as high a rating as a movie like this would get from me, but it achieves its aims without too much on-the-nose narrative handcuffing.
