Not on the level of the original. But its a pretty decent follow-up.

Despite my dislikes of whatver-Man series, I watched Iron Man 2 because I enjoyed the first one a lot. The sequel was less entertaining in that nothing happened in the first hour of the movie. Overall, it was ok but not living up to the first one. The movie ended with a very clear message that there will be Iron Man 3 so hopefully it will end well.

Btw, I didn't know Robert Downey, Jr. was this HOT until this movie. I am not sure whether it is all that muscles or his wicked demeanor in this movie but somehow he is now on the top of my list of hotties.

Treading water....in the halls of superhero sequels, this ain't no "Spider-Man 2" or "The Dark Knight". It's a minor thrill to see all these actors playing around, but nothing of high value or enjoyment results. Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell, magnetic as each can be, are trapped in the stereotypical dual-villain territory of many lamentable superhero sequels ("Spider-Man 3", "Batman" 2-4), and it's disappointingly obvious from page one that each's uninspired personality necessitates the other to try equaling one solid villain, at which they nevertheless fail. Scarlett Johansson at no fault of her own embarrasses the movie worst of all with a character shoehorned-in solely for sexual fawning. I mean c'mon I'm all for exploiting her hotness, but the first "Iron Man" had some actual dignity. It was a smart, lean picture. You expect more from the people capable of pulling off THAT movie (Jon Favreau, Downey Jr., writer John August, et al). Samuel L. Jackson simply provides fan-boy catnip - he is pointless to this movie beyond connecting it to the upcoming "Avengers" saga. Robert Downey, Jr. almost single-handedly redeems the deflated balloon of a screenplay with more of his uniquely delightful persona, but even he seems aware of how perfunctory and forced this second try turned out to be.

Also the whole thing was meticulously laid out in the trailer in chronological order and featuring every single point of interest, so it feels like redundant to waste your time on the movie itself.

Neither outrageously bad nor particularly memorable, a boilerplate blockbuster for the digitally-enhanced superhero-obssessed age. You have to wonder why they bother casting talented actors in such undemanding roles. Oh yeah, because their names on the poster bring in cash.
