More of a nostalgia trip than a brand new Muppet adventure, and heavier on the homages than it needs to be (did they really need to perform all of "Rainbow Connection"?), but what isn't to adore about these jolly, innocent characters or their equally endearing human sidekicks Jason Segel and Amy Adams? The movie is meticulously designed to make you happy, and works without being cloying like a lot of kids' movies or embarrassing itself or anyone watching.

Winning and lovable; it wrings a lot of big belly laughs out of the familiar antics, too, and it doesn't pander to do so. There are moments of sheer pathos, moments of gut-busting comedy, and moments that merge the two seamlessly, so it's pretty much a winner all around. Also, Chris Cooper raps, if that's up your alley; and, as a bonus, Bret McKenzie's compositions are instantly recognizable to any Flight of the Conchords fan, so that's always nice. Just a good time all around.
