Although it's leaps and bounds better than another pair of 2004 revenge movies, the fact alone that "Walking Tall" doesn't take itself as gravely serious as "Man On Fire" or "The Punisher" isn't enough to make it good. It's enough to make it easier to watch, though, and as goofy as i thought this movie was, between this and "The Rundown," i'm really starting to buy The Rock as a palatable action star, provided, of course, that he loose the goofy-ass nickname. I'll recommend that everyone go see it simply to elevate The Rock's marketability until he's more popular than Vin Diesel, but as a film it's really quite bland, and with a lame villain besides. Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" movies were 2004's best revenge saga, though-- not as dire and stone-faced as "Man on Fire"/"Punisher," but much more artfully constructed than "Walking Tall."

I entered the theater expecting a brain dead film, and I got what I expected. This movie would have been better if:
A. They added more detail. There is one scene where Knoxville is educating The Rock on how to catch drugs. What could have been half of the movie is if they showed us who they busted and the information they had. Instead we get a 30 second scenes of people getting busted.
B. If the movie was longer. I mean the movie lasts only 80 minutes.
C. And last, if they used the real name of the real person who inspired the film. They use the name Chris Vaughn instead of Buford Pusser.
