i tend to lump adam sandler's films into one of two categories : "happy gilmore", which i liked, and everything else .. "waterboy" fits nicely in the second category. i laughed more in the two minutes of the trailer than i did in the 90 minutes of the film ..

If it wasn't for the star wars trailer, i wouldn't even rent it myself.

Pretty good Adam Sandler.

A few good laughs, but any movie that has its highlights in celebrity cameos is bound to be pretty weak.

Movie blew - funny star actor but very boring plot low budget film

A "no-brainer" (in it's most literal sense)
Target Audience: People who get headaches from thinking too hard...

The price I paid to see Waterboy was the most I had ever paid to get into a movie ($8.75). It was Thanksgiving and we were visiting family in California. It was pretty funny, and I laughed out loud several times. (Perhaps it had to do with the company I was with, as I saw it with a group of brothers and nephews.) Seeing it again not too long ago, it was quite a bit dumber and not quite as funny, although I did still laugh out loud several times. Basically, it's the story of a young boy turned slow grown-up whose dream it is to provide purified water to those athletes in need. When someone pushes the right buttons, however, he becomes a raging defensive tackle, taking his small Louisiana football team to the NCAA championship game. Dumb as movies go, but pretty good as SNL spinoff movies go. Worth seeing for a few good laughs, but little more....

A couple of laughs in the first half may keep you watching for the last half, but don't be fooled. Go watch your refrigerator make ice, you'll feel better about yourself and be more entertained.

Sandler and Fonzie ("Happy Days") fans should like this movie. Sandler haters will hate it.
