If I had no ears, I would give this movie the same rating, just for the lovely Claire Forlani. The dialoge, when audible and decipherable, was uninteresting. The darkness of many of the scenes did not add to a sad tone, but rather succeeded in lulling the audience into a bored stupor, unable to leave the theatre. That's the only reason I can think of for my staying beyond the first 20 minutes.

Beautifully shot on a great location. The total film length comes to about three hours - so if you are prepared for that this is a good romance to cuddle up with. Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt, and Claire Forlani all put in fairly good performances . So while it didn't do well at the box office when it was released (probably due to its runtime) it is worth renting IMO.

Pretty good. Good girl movie. Anthony Hopkins is the first person to really follow the Kubler-Ross theory of dying stages by _actually_ bargining with Death.

I love slow, quiet movies with a touch of romance. Although this movie should have been sped up by about 20%. Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins sure know how to act - very nice...you get your moneys' worth too - 3 full hours!

You expect more from Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins.

Yes, it's long and could have been shortened a bit. But in the words of Roger Ebert (and here I paraphrase a bit), if you like the characters you want to spend more time with them so the length of the film shouldn't be an issue. I liked the characters and I'm a sucker for a happy, romantic ending so this really worked for me.

The fact that this was star studded didn't help a bit.

I bought this movie recently and enjoyed it alot. Very good acting especially by Brad Pitt, and Claire Forlani is adorable as always. The love story works and the movie while 3 hours long only drags for maybe the last 15 minutes.

A funny, interesting, sometimes touching film. Death takes the form of a recently-killed Brad Pitt and enlists Anthony Hopkins to take him on holiday, so to speak, before Hopkins' untimely death in the near future. The complicated part is that Hopkins' daughter was the last person that Pitt's character talked to before he was hit by a car minutes after. I won't give away any more of the story, but I'll just say Meet Joe Black is a great film. I like the peanut butter scene, and I teared up a little when the daughter says, after being invited to dinner for the second night in a row, "Gee dad, aren't you sick of us yet?" To which Hopkins replies, in a tender moment, "Mmmm.... no." (It doesn't sound as sublime as it really is....) A bit long, but worth it.

Dumb, make-believe. I'm sorry, if their is one known as 'Death', he does not come to Earth and fall in love with a mortal, and he does not look like Brad Pitt. www.outcrybookreview.com/meat.htm
