The climactic 'hail of arrows' scene is awesome. Mifune is in shouting & grunting mode here (I think this has to do with the Noh theater style of the film), and gives a powerful performance. The film effectively demonstrates its simple theme of the cycle of bloodsheed spawned by pride.
