Good stuff: a mostly vivid '50's atmosphere; pleasantly toned, without any ugly situations, angry characters, or thematically dark content of any kind -- just NICE; the four leads (the nerdy, occasionally intolerable Doug McKeon, "rebellious" good guy Chris Nash, ordinary Catherine Mary Stewart, and sexy-as-ever Kelly Preston) are worth following, despite the straints of their characters (save for Nash's, who remains an interesting, likable guy throughout) and the satisfactory-yet-unmemorable acting; a giant, awesome soundtrack, rivaling the quality of the classic American Graffitti...bad stuff: a sitcom-like story with obvious conflicts and even more obvious outcomes -- be sure to make the distinction however, because predictability itself cannot be a film's tragic flaw. Good movies can be predictable. Bad predictable movies are bad because they offer no creative expression of their inevitability (as we observe in "Mischief"); plain, unimaginative writing; the movie doesn't go anywhere really. Yeah, there's one character's quest (and eventual achievement thereto) to lose his virginity, but I really didn't feel any sense of actual advancement, in terms of plot, characterization, or meaning. Like it's obvious inspiration "American Graffiti", this movie is pretty content to just cruise around, although unlike the 1973 nostaglia piece, "Mischief" isn't consistently interesting enough to make its audience not care about the absence of storytelling

Typical 80's garb about a guy who will stop at nothing to get laid by the prettiest girl in the school. While it is nothing new it provides some laughs, and an adorable Kelly Preston. Question why she ever died her hair red is a mystery to me?

I think Mischief is one of those movies that people rent, well... just to see a young Kelly Preston without any clothes on. From the cover, it looks like a cute little nostalgic story, but the story itself makes no sense whatsoever.

Kelly Preston's bush. Need I say more? Hardly. A teen movie that doesn't classify amongst the John Huges/raunchy sex flicks of its era. More of a "Stand By Me" minus the pathos. A cool soundtrack of "American Graffiti" songs levies the dreary (if not for Preston being naked) adventures-in-getting-laid
