Exceptional concert film, shot in warm, crisp colors and using a can't-lose subject (it might be interesting if someday someone does a concert film for a musical act that isn't revered) to deliver a dozen or so immaculate folk songs in Young's inimitable style. I'm still not totally in love with him as a singer/songwriter - lots of respect, of course, and plenty of good songs, but I figure it'll be another few years before he becomes as special to me as he is to so many others - so in that regard, the movie lags at times. The performances are never less than stellar, with a great cast of pros lending him beautiful support (shades of Springsteen's collaborative efforts - now there's a live performer I could really sink my teeth into), and there are some emotionally stirring moments, but on the whole I wasn't very engaged. Nothing against the film, really, just my own distance from the material.
Plus, it may have been asking too much, but I was secretly holding out for "After the Gold Rush"...oh well.
