I wasn't quite sure what this film was trying to say. Teenage suicide is bad? Parents don't get their kids? Or popular people in high school / snooty people in general suck? So rather than trying to find some hidden moral message in the film just kick back and enjoy this cynical joyride through high school hell.
Winona Ryder and Shannen Doherty showcase their young talents in this film, and while only being a decade old, the hairstyles and mannerisms reflected in the film seem to be from the early eighties.
I believe this is one of the film seen as a "cult classic". I'm not entirely sure why but perhaps Christian Slater's character has something do to with it.
