If "Boondock Saints" offered something other than gratuitous violence and Willem Dafoe, I think I missed it. As an outsider recently transplanted into Boston-- where every other twentysomething bestows this work of, uh, art with a fervent hero worship nestled somewhere between admiration and fanatic obsession-- I can get hip to a lot of cultural obsessions worshipped in my new home, but "The Boondock Saints" isn't one. Dafoe is so flamboyantly demented that the film becomes impossible to not enjoy when he's on-screen; but when he's not, and we're forced to deal with two morons who shoot and curse a lot, "Boondock" becomes barren.
