This is a musical about army buddies who meet again 10 years after the war. They had vowed eternal friendship but they have all changed. Life isn't what anyone of them expected. Dan Daily and Cyd Charisse do some great dancing with direction by Stanley Donen.

Meant as a sequel to "On the Town" but altered when Frank Sinatra couldn't commit, the similarities are still present in this story of 3 war buddies who reunite 10 years later and realize they hate each other (you can plainly tell who Sinatra was supposed to play, for example). As many have noted, this is quite a cynical project for Gene Kelly and musicals in general, but it goes all happy in the end, so no worries. Still, the downbeat vibe is not only creatively refreshing and intriguing (a preface to the more sad/serious/thoughtful musicals that came decades later?), but also, conversely, kind of deflating to the mood, so it's a double-edged sword. And speaking of prefaces, check out Kelly's stunning roller-skating tap dance and try not to get depressed thinking that's what "Xanadu" should have been like, 25 years later.
