I admit it all the time in all my other reviews of Disney films. I'm a Disney slut. I was also a Buffy the Vampire slut. And a Sex in the City slut.
So hey Disney move with Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) and Kim Cattrall? It's all good man. :)
Oh so Disney is slowly moving with the times, so this does have a slight "twist" do the Disney formula in it.
Though I do have to say that I watched Buffy at the time and was thinking Dawn was going to pull a Kirsten Dunst (from Interview with a Vampire days) and turn into a total babe. Don't get me wrong, she's cute, but she's no Kirsten Dunst.
Oh wait. I know what Michelle has to do - she has to go through her dark period of really weird indie films to show off her acting chops.
Heh - yes I so know this has little or nothing to do with the film just random musing.

I'm a grown man and I like these type of movies. Granted, it partly succumbs to the less pleasant allures of the teen genre in its modern state, and yeah, the barrage of cliches can be tough to weather (I found myself grinding my teeth in anticipation of the mother-daughter confrontation that would culminate with the latter saying "no, I'm living YOUR dream!"), but overall it is a nicely pure-hearted and competently (if not too interestingly) made exercise in triumphant Disney-brand feel-good-itude. And Michele Trachtenberg is infinitely more appealing here than she was on "Buffy", so thank God for that. The movie's ultimate failing (to become a fully likable affair) is probably its inability to engage the viewer in its proceedings. Trachtenberg charms it up, and the movie has a softly slick look to it and is obviously sincere, but in the end it's still fairly boring. It just doesn't have the panache or zest of Disney's more infectious popcorn flicks
