You know, given the right script and the stipulation that he must not use a foreign or southern accent the entire movie, Kevin Costner can be pretty good actor.
This movie still holds up today as a fast-paced, non-stop action thriller. As good as Costner is in this movie, Gene Hackman and his creepy loyal assistant (Will Patton) are the real stars.

Interesting, quick-paced little political/military thriller with Kevin Costner being employed via an aid by the Secretary of Defense (Gene Hackman). Costner falls in love (and beds) a sultry blonde (Sean Young) after a party, and later finds out that she's the very mistress of Mr. Secretary. After not too long, Hackman and Young have one last fling, ended with an argument, he slaps her, and she falls over the stairway to her death. Thus begins the thriller-- Hackman proceeds to try and pin the death on a shadowy insider spying for Russia. The whole thing together is not too bad-- it starts to worsen as it turns toward the melodramatic and sappy. Also, like a multitude of other movies from the 80s, you've got to have some token (unnecessary) nudity to spice it up. There's some problems here, but it's a entertaining little story.
