The cast is a list of the finest actors of our time. The film is an embarrassment to their skills. It was longwinded and attempted to appeal to "female bonding" and linking the generations. It turned me off.

Given the cast, I wanted very much to thoroughly enjoy this film. I did, I suppose, but not as much as I had hoped. It's the story of Wynona Ryder, getting advice from her elders at the crossroads of her life. She is about to finish her doctoral thesis and also has the chance to marry Dermot Mulroney, but she's not sure she wants to settle down, and she's not sure that he is completely faithful. To take a step back, she decides to spend a summer with her grandmother Ellen Burstyn and her great-aunt Anne Bancroft, who share their stories as they create quilts. Good, but not great.
