There are some movies that critics thought were pretty bad, which I really enjoyed. For Love of Ivy was one of these. I enjoy basically anything with Sidney Poitier in the lead, and in 1968, he was really at his best (with such other films as Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and In The Heat Of The Night). It's the story of a trucking executive who runs a casino out of one of his trucks. Carroll O'Connor finds out about the operation and cons Poitier into romancing his maid, Ivy (Abbey Lincoln). He reluctantly accepts the arrangement, but then when he falls in love with Ivy for real, she finds out the whole story. Bill Cosby also appears in a minor role as one of Poitier's colleagues. Not a loud movie, but quite a good movie.
