This movie is what it is (7.5). Good plot, good characters, and a good scenery (for both genders). A man loves it (Bar Scenes) and so does a women (Love Story). If you rate it lower you don't know movies.

First of all, I'm surprised more people haven't rated this and then I'm also surprised at the ratings. I remember this being a very popular film with that Club Med feel. Yes, I admit this is a definite chick flick. But, we can all admit that we'd have taken Tom Cruise's job in a SECOND. Cute film.

I'm a big Tom Cruise fan and this is entertaining but not among his top films. Just not in the same class as flicks like Risky Business and Top Gun. The music is memorable though and a cute Elizabeth Shue doenst hurt.

Fairly early Tom Cruise project all about the rough life and discrimination that becomes the lot of bartenders. Cruise drops out of school to fulfill his life's dream of marrying rich and enjoying the easy life. He meets Brian Brown, and together they push their way up the bartending Bunker Hill to the top of popularity. One critic noticed that although it takes five minutes to a mix a drink as they dance around, the patrons cheer them on instead of demanding their drinks. I hand't thought of that before, but it's true. Cocktail must have somehow been an inspiration to Coyote Ugly, which is basically the same thing with a switch in gender. I remember the film being wildly popular when it came out, and my brother owning the soundtrack, but as I watched it, I wondered why.
