Huh, I didn't expect this to already be in the database. As an '80s completist and closet fan of any movie containing more than one member of the Brat Pack, I'm sorry that it took me so long to finally see this movie, but to be fair, it's not easy to find. As for its quality, well, it suffers from an identity crisis, unsure whether to be comedy or drama (because it does not blend the two well), and ends abruptly without properly resolving the relationship between McCarthy and Jacqueline Bisset (obviously they couldn't stay together, but I think the situation deserved more closure than it got), but at times, via small details here and there, it does seem to be trying to break the mold of dumb teen comedy, which I appreciate. Unfortunately it doesn't try hard enough, and a lot of the movie is just formulaic and rote. One of my favorite things about it, though, would be the fraternity between all these young actors, because not only does it star McCarthy and a peppy Rob Lowe, but also features small, wacky turns by first-time actors (and future legends of '80s cinema) Alan Ruck and John Cusack, not to mention extremely tiny glimpses of Virginia Madsen and Casey Siemaskzo; in fact, imdb also credits Lolita Davidovitch and Joan Cusack but I never saw them anywhere. All in all, a decent flick but not as good as it almost wanted to be

The ambiguous title suggest that this might be a film about social/economic classes, or life as a metaphor for the classroom (a place of learning), or simply a classy, distinguished project. It's none of these, but there's some amusement in watching the fledgling brat-packers do their thing despite the story's implausibility.
