One of the best traditionally-animated films Disney's put out in years, "Lilo & Stitch" is a refreshing family film that's big on heart and imagination and doesn't offer the placid musical numbers and printing-press sentimentality that plague the studio's latter-day offerings. Stitch, the oddball extraterrestrial genetic experiment adopted by young, lonely Lilo, is a welcome antidote to Disney stock characters, xeroxed into the script for the sake of amusement and comic relief. He's a quirky, but endlessly endearing little guy, and his antics yield much of the film's laughter--- and it's sentiment. One of the most fun, likable, and original animated films of the past decade.
