This fails completely as a horror movie. The thing I DID like about this movie was that it kept you on edge, waiting for something to happen. Also, Sharon Stone's character had some very uncommonly intelligent horror movie lines: Let's just move out and go home, and she tells him maybe its best not to examine an abandoned well in the dark during a thunderstorm with a killer on the loose.

Warning: Contains Spoilers!
OK. I really was pissed off by this movie. From beginning to end. I remember seeing the trailer to this movie and it looked great. It looked like a slasher/supernatural horror thriller like the masterpeice Halloween. What I just said about this film was very wrong. Now the film is about a family (consisting of Dennis Quaid, Sharon Stone etc) trying to excape the city and move into a beautiful manor. When Dale Massie comes to the manor, he tells the family he used to live there, but instead of asking for them to move he asks if he chould clean the pool. The family says yes, even though they know he is a total creep!?! When things go downhill and Dale is acused. Then Dale goes nuts trying to kill the family. I can't explain the whole plot, but it is so paper thin, you can tell Massie is the killer. There is no twist at the end, no supernatural killer, nothing! And with an anticlimatic ending, this movie just not just sucks, it BLOWS!

An uninspired hack job of a thriller by Figgis that features pretty-boy actor Stephen Dorff as a Max Cady-ish lowlife hick who has taken to terrorizing a newly relocated family. Note Figgis's continued infatuation with digital video.
