Oliver Stone's look at the Kennedy shooting in Dallas and what led up to it is a compelling and well put together film. The cast was stellar although I'm not sure about Kevin Costner's accent. This is only one theory out of several as to what happened ofcourse, but Stone sure backs up his theory with a lot of evidence. A good drama made from an important piece of history.

I wasn't alive in 1963, so I can't comment about what actually happened surrounding this story, or "where I was when JFK was shot," but I did enjoy the intrigue and suspense in JFK. I was in New Orleans on a business trip and I asked a woman there what she thought of Jim Garrison at the time. She said that a lot of people there thought he was nuts, but that she had at least a certain respect for him. (She wasn't as specific as I would have liked her to be). My thought is this, though-- something that we don't completely know about has to have happened in Dallas that day. I understand that JFK is largely a conspiracy theorist's dream movie, but something strange happened, and I think the film did a good job of explaining the possibilities. Bravo Oliver Stone!

Positively riveting thriller based on Jim Garrisons theory of a conspiracy in the Kennedy assasination. Historically a bit loose but stirs up enough shit and proposes enough possibilities to really shock. Stone again proves he is the most important film maker of recent times whilst Costner reminds us he was a superb actor.How the mighty have fallen.

The main thing baout JFK is not that it solves the assassination (it doesn't) or even that it vindicates Jim Garrison. What JFK ultimately is is a cinematic rage against the dying of the light that Oliver Stone (and many other people) feels began on November 22 1963.
Looked at simply as a piece of filmmaking, JFK is unforgettable. The way it is shot and edited, the performances, the driving storyline all work perfectly well. There are a few slow spots here and there (a few scenes on the directors cut DVD that should have stayed on the cutting room floor). But on the whole JFK is Stone's magnum opus. Only Platoon could be ranked ahead of it.
