What a great movie. Sweet, funny, romantic. Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt had great chemistry. You could call this movie a chick-flick for guys. And the soundtrack is wonderful, full of Sinatra and Tony Bennett and even Meredith Brooks. Romantic comedies frequently have characters making maturing attitude leaps that leave you feeling like you missed something, but here I actually felt the emotional growth. Mel's relationship with his daughter is troubled in the begining and bandaged by the end but not completely healed. Which felt honest. You are also left feeling that he might actually be able to make a go of it with Helen Hunt. That they just might last. It's a very optimistic and funny movie. Hysterical Mel wearing pantyhose and nailpolish in an effort to understand what women go through, and vulnerable Mel when he disappears in to his coat while confessing his sins to his boss, and sweet mel when he is realizing his attraction to Helen Hunt at a little jazz club. It all worked. There are a couple of weak spots though. Marisa Tomei is pretty much wasted in a slight comedic role that could have been left on the cutting room floor. The ending is much too abrupt. I certainly don't need them walking off into the sunset but I felt it needed just a smoother transition from last scene to ending credits.

Light hearted comedy which is just a good escape vehicle for two hours. A little sappy at the end with Helen Hunt, but the majority of the film where Mel Gibson can hear into women's minds is quite funny.

The film everyone couldn't wait to see, and a film that turned out to be not quite as funny, not quite as endearing, not quite as good as everyone (well… myself, at least) expected it to be. It's another film that has a set of toned-down "PG" lines in the previews, but that turns them up to PG-13 lines in the movie-something I don't particularly care for. I usually like Helen Hunt's work, but she just seemed a bit… not herself. There's a completely unnecessary scene or two with the waning Marisa Tomei, yet again in a ditz role. Too bad, really. It's a clever premise, and there's some funny lines, but it could have been a lot funnier and a lot better.

First of all, given a choice, I would never see this movie, but, unfortunately, I was forced to. It wasn't pleasant. And now, a review of the movie itself: "What Women Want" is a movie that is both femenist and misogynist at the same time. How strange. The acting in the movie is decent, but not nearly up to my expectations of the people doing the acting (for example: Alan Alda, Helen Hunt, and Bette Midler). Mel Gibson turns his charm up all the way, but that doesn't do anything for me, being that I prefer females. The movie is actually OK for the first half-hour, but it drags on and on and on, and what should have been a short, harmless piece of fluff, turns into a sprawling, pointless 3-hour melodrama. There are enough soap opera sub-plots for three movies, and all of them have to be lengthedly tied up. Not pleasant, as I've said already.

Does anyone remember at the end of Braveheart, when the executioner asks William Wallace if he will pay homage to the King of England. Wallace, of course, refuses. The executioner informs him that, then, you must be purified with pain. I am pure after having watched What Women Want.

Hilarious and crazy!!!!I really enjoyed it Mel Gibson was the perfect role for this one!!!The rest of the cast just added on to the feel of an already tremendously funny movie!!!I love the things he hears from women especially when he looks at Delta Burke and another woman and hears nothing!!!I'm sure you will laugh because i sure did!!!

Breezy, pleasant romantic comedy. Not what you'd call profound, but the big-name stars are eminently watchable.

With Helen Hunt and Mel Gibson, how could I go wrong? I enjoyed this light comedy for what it was..a funny chick flick. NOT FOR MY HUSBAND.
