Pierce Brosnan's first Bond entry is just an average action movie and inferior to ALL it's predecessors. First of all, while the action scenes have always been exaggerations, in this movie some of them are outright ridiculous. Furthermore, the comedic lines seem forced and aren't very witty and what's with women telling James Bond what to do? I don't know, it misses something that's for sure.

Exciting little Bond adventure. This time, Bond must stop an evil pair of Russian dissidents from using GoldenEye, a device capable of creating an pulse of radiation in a specific area capable of destroying anything within a certain radius that contains an electronic circuit. Not content to keep the story that simple, there's some unforseen twists and turns that kept me interested. There's also some pretty impressive stunt work in this one, such as Bond skydiving parachute-less into a diving plane to save it at the last second. Some of the movie is a bit far-out, but it was one of Bond's better ones.

"Goldeneye" is one of the best James Bond films, and certainly the best from recent years. Pierce Brosnan debuted as Bond in this film, and is the best Bond since Sean Connery. The action is great. The Bond Girls are up to their usual, as is Q (well, not up to the same things as the Bond Girls, but up to whatever Q is always up to. The villians leave something to be desired, but Boris (a minor villian) is humorous (albeit not threatening in the slightest). Other than that, though, this is a great action movie.

Some of the dialog early on was so bad that it was becoming like a parody of itself. Along with the changes in culture has come the loss of subtlety: that a woman named Onatopp is an innuendo really doesn't need to be underlined, highlighted, and put in italics...we get it. But the clever plot and other stuff pulled it out of a possible tailspin.

i was a huge remington steele fan, and had been waiting to see pierce brosnan in this role for years. i've only seen a select few bond films before, and thus had no real loyalty to any particular actor .. but after watching 'goldeneye' i can't imagine bond being played by any other actor (please, it's just my own humble opinion) ..

This was the best modern bond film I have seen. This was better than Tomorrow Never Dies, and Pierce Brosnan is _so_ much better than Timothy Dalton. Connery/Goldfinger = still the best.
