F. Gary Gray's compelling "The Negotiator" is quite above average for an action flick, taking obvious pride in the strength of its two lead performers, Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Though nearly two and a half hours long - about an hour longer than any action movie really should be - "The Negotiator" manages to sustain a taut atmosphere and a tight grip on the attention span of the audience.

Very intense. You feel a real sense of urgency throughout the movie, not so much because of the screenplay as much as the performances by Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. This is not to say that the screenplay isn't good. It just starts out kind of formulaic and cliched, but once things get going between Jackson and Spacey, it gets much better. And I really enjoyed the ending.

This movie marks the first time I've ever fallen asleep in a theater--and it happened multiple times throughout this two-hour melodrama. Weak plot, weak dialogue, Jackson and Spacey need new agents. It's not open to negotiation.

An action-packed movie with some nice twist and turns...Spacey is great as ever and Jackson is convincing as the framed victim....not a match made in heaven but as close as its gonna get!

The Negotiator could have been a lot better, given the cast. I love Kevin Spacey and I love Samuel L. Jackson. This movie, however, is overlong, and quite unpleasant. Much of it is incredible-- I thought to myself several times, "Real cops would never do that..." so that kind of spoiled it for me. I guess you should see it if you're a die-hard Spacey fan or Jackson fan, but there are better movies from either actor.

Jackson and Spacey, a dynamic pair like no other. With a shockingly absorbing and detailed script, this movie is a masterpiece, and no doubt would be cherished as one by critics and the public about 30 years ago, before every movie that isn't independently made or directed by Spielberg or Kubrick was taking for granted

A very intelligent action flick. Top notch performances form Spacey and Jackson. The only thing that is dissapointing are the mininmum amount of action sequences. Other than that this is a very exciting film.
