probably the worst depiction of fire and firefighting i have ever seen. very few of the firefighters actually wore air packs (scba's) and the only guy who completely wore his scba died. They never wore a full suit of protective equipment. they ran into the buildings with jeans on, and some didnt even have gloves on. The fire is also very unrealistic. No person could ever have the time to stop and get into a fight in some of those conditions. Also unless there were explosive materials scattered all through these buildings, there shouldnt be random explosions in the middle of the hallway. If they consider those backdrafts, they are incredibly misguided.

A terribly unrealistic and utterly ridiculous representation of firefighting. The fire effects were awful and the lack of breathing and safety equipment used make this movie a laughing stock among those who serve in the fire service.

I am a huge fan of this film, not so much of the Baldwin in it, but Kurt Russell did a great job of portraying the expirienced firefighter. This is one of my all time favorites, I love the protectiveness of Kurt's character, he plays it so well. The story was great, everything clicks in this movie. I'll say it again tho, the Baldwin, not a good choice for the role, not a believable performance, at times he overacted his role.
Just an overall great story and a movie you really get pulled into and involved in.

Great flick that deals with the politics of firefighting. Very moving and powerful in more ways than one.

The soundtrack did it for me on this particular movie. Great special effects that resulted in a great thrill ride at Universal Studios. A must have to play loudly.

Backdraft is a really good thriller that is enhanced by excellent special effects some of which have yet to duplicated. Obviously, fire is the benchmark of this film and it has never looked or felt as real. Okay, the plot has a hole or two, but those are well overcompensated by the special effects and by terrific performances by DeNiro and Baldwin. A must see for suspense flick fans.
