This one will never be outdated. When George's friends all get together to help him out, I can't help but get a lump in my throat. Everyone can have this same story about them: George is just an average man, who is a hero to his friends and family.

"It's A Wonderful Life" is exactly the magical, family-friendly classic it attempts to be, and I say that without the slightest hint of reservation that some numbskull might label it a "chick flick." Jimmy Stewart is at his "gee, golly" best in a genuinely touching picture that pulls off the whole "life-affirming" thing much better than any of its manipulative successors have been able to. Stewart's George Bailey, a suicidal man shaped by a life of undeserved poverty, goes to a bridge on Christmas Eve with every intention of ending what he perceives to be a wretched life-- that is, until an angel named Clarence arrives on the scene and gives him a glimpse of a George Bailey-less world. Those who dislike such family fare needn't fret-- "It's A Wonderful Life" is genuinely emotional without being manipulative, and a very enjoyable picture to boot, despite a running time that some may deem excessive for this type of movie. A true classic.

The first time I watched this – last July – it brought back a childlike sense of faith I thought I’d long since lost. What Mr. Potter says to George Bailey prior to the arrival of Clarence – “you’re worth more dead than alive” – can sometimes seem devastatingly true. But it isn’t.

This, to me, is more than just a Christmas movie, it’s a movie you watch when you can barely see the good in life anymore. It always makes me feel better, and seeing how George affected the people around him is truly fascinating.

thanks to ted turner, this has become as much a part of christmas tradition as anything else .. jimmy stewart is great as usual, and manages to make this otherwise unspectacular film, well .. spectacular ..

Classic film stars James Stewart and Donna Reed play out this Christmas Capraesque classic in glowing black and white tones. Frank Capra's traditional themes of the individual's importance and wonder of life is enough to lift any depressive mood.

Classic, must see this movie.

Wittier and harder-edged than I had remembered.

Man I can't stand X'mas flicks. "Everytime a bell rings, an angel gets its wings..." Ugh!

Angel. Suicide. Zuzu's petals.

The direction of Frank Capra and the acting of Jimmy Stewart make this film one of the most heart-warming experiences I've ever had. If you ever have the chance of seeing it on big screen, go and see it. It's wonderful on TV as well though.

Its a classic. How many times did you see this movie? I watch it every holiday season...and it's never too schmaltzy to see it one more time. What could be wrong with a message of hope? And hopefully, we're not all too cynical to appreciate Stewart's new take on his old life.

A deserved classic, and it's worth noting that the deliriously happy ending wouldn't work without the power of the dark and painful story that precedes it. This is possibly Stewart's best performance, too (rivalling Vertigo).

Another one that's just too ancient for me.

What a great film It's a Wonderful Life is-- a touching, funny, endearing film. Although I wasn't born until the 1970s, I can only imagine how it affected people, being released only a year after the end of World War Two. Perhaps the film paints an idealized, Rockwellish picture of America at the time, but I feel that the element adds to the film's charm rather than detracting from it. It combines James Stewart's home-grown personna with just enough of the supernatural to make it a magical holiday experience. Everyone should see this film.

Perfect movie. Equal parts comedy and drama, whimsy and introspection. I've never known a better actor than the legendary Jimmy Stewart. Donna Reed is positivley illuminating, such grace and beauty and that warm smile! Everyone loves this movie and for good reason
