first "conspiracy theory", now this .. i'm not sure what it is, but i'm i find myself simultaneoulsy thinking that : a, mel gibson is doing a nice character acting job; b, i just don't buy his character. other than that, a very moderate film with a few nice moments ..

Gritty 70s cop and gangsters feel to the whole film highlighted by the usage of cool color tones. Fun revenge flick with Mel Gibson playing his usual suave cool unflappable self. Some amusing scenes with Lucy Liu (from Ally McBeal fame) who plays a S&M nightmare.

Intense, dark, violent, film about some very nasty people who insist on doing each other in. Mel Gibson plays a cruel killer who manages to kill even meaner dudes in hope of getting back his 70,000 dollar cut in a deal. Maria Bello plays his prostitute girlfriend. Somehow, and don't ask me how, one gets to feel concern and sympathy about this sad couple.

It's starts off well-enough, but derails once Mel Gibson's bad guy persona is discarded in favor of a more standard hero posture. See John Boorman's classic "Point Blank" (with Lee Marvin) instead.

This dark action/thriller puts Mel Gibson in a different role then the Lethal Weapon series and it works quite well. This has touches of comedy as well. Try it if you haven't seen it.
