Okay, so it's not rocket science... but Wolfgang Petersen's "Air Force One" is still great fun. There's a palpable sense of suspense, even if the action is a bit predictable. Petersen creates a genuinely claustrophobic atmosphere by setting all the action within the tight confines of an airplane, and Harrison Ford's steely Bruce Willis-in-Die-Hard impersonation is not to be missed, and, as per usual, Gary Oldman is incredible. This is a terrorist picture with unusual depth, even if the situations present themselves as unfeasible. But, overall, the performances are tight, the action is interesting, and it boils down to a fun movie that can be enjoyed by both sexes.

Preposterous though it may be, Wolfgang Petersen's "Air Force One" is a tense, forceful, claustrophobic thriller rivalled only by the film it apes, "Die Hard," in the area of good, old-fashioned, sweaty-palmed suspense. Only after it's over do we realize how ridiculous "Air Force One" is - that rarely does a president actually save the world with his bare hands, that all the bad guys are such conveniently bad shots, that our hero can immediately think of a memorable, if cheesy, one-liner to utter before delivering a punishing blow, that the climax looks remarkably like it was filmed in someone's bathtub - but by then we don't care. We've had our dose of adrenaline. Our roller-coaster ride is done. And if we don't think too much about it - and movies too often are sapped of their fun by people who think too much about things - we leave satisfied. It's all harmless, theatrical, cinematic action cinema, boys and girls - something we can all use. Special kudos go to Harrison Ford, all true grit and steely resolve as butt-kicking President Rambo, for tossing a remarkably good performance into what could have been an utterly brainless film.

not much worth mentioning on this one; just wasn't that good. the special effects were somewhat kludgey looking, the plot was blah, .. both Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman have done better films.

I love these sorts of movies - suspense - great acting - only thing I did not like is how the President was able to kill all the bad guys by himself - a little unbelievable...er a lot...

Action man Presdent? I don't think so...and that speech he made at the very start....what a load of bull...basically that speech underlined the trashyness of the rest of the movie...not as bad as the likes of Independence Day....but it IS a Hollywood blockbuster at its worst.

Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford highlight a good cast in a tightly-wound terrorist thriller. Wolfgang Petersen's taut "Die-Hard-on-a-plane" works to good effect (better than that film, methinks). The two leads are the highlights, but the supporting cast isn't bad at all. Good stuff.

I loved this Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman movie until......it dragged a little at the end. The plane crash effects looked fake and it really ruined the conclusion for me. Also, the criminals managed to stay alive beyond believability. It's too bad because this had all the makings of a truly great film.

Absolute edge-of-your-seat entertainment. Now, I'm intelligent enough to realize that Air Force One isn't the best or most probable story on Earth, but it's one of those stories that makes you think, "What if...?" and it paints such a poor picture for the communists that you literally feel like cheering when they get beat up or killed. This was a great role for Harrison Ford (who my wife wishes, humorously enough, was her father), and no one that roots for the Michigan Wolverines can be that bad. A good-old American David and Goliath story.

In my eyes, a really poor movie. This movie came out about 15 yrs. too late. Had it been released in the mid-80s, it would have fit right in with the rest of the cheesy, yay-for-America movies. However, the plot was ridiculous, the acting wasn't good, and I don't really know if there was anything good about this movie. I not an action film fan anyway, but this was especially bad. Not even the great Harrison Ford was a drop of help for this pathetic movie.
