I can't believe this film came out 8 years ago! Just bought it on DVD and after screening it again I'm still impressed at how well it stands up. You know - I just realized that since it was directed by Paul Verhoeven who also did Starship Troopers there are interesting similarities - one guy, two hot chicks... never mind.

Ive watched this so many times when im bored , sure the special effects are a little outdated but its fun as hell, with some good lines. MY favorite is when Sharon Stone who plays arnies wive says "doug u dont want to stay married to me no more " so he shoots her and says "consider it a divorce". lol or that scene when that freak removes her top and shes got three tits.

Just got this classic movie on DVD, and man, does this movie rock. It's 10 years old (1999) and it still stands up to other scifi's like the Matrix and stuff. Too bad for the somehow dissapointing Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, but there are however some cool stereo effects.
All the cool actors are there, Arnold, Sharon Stone, and more familiar faces. Very good acting!
And the story really let's you think about it is a dream or not for about a week.
Bottom line: one of the best movies I have ever seen.

While I was growing up, I was completely nutty for the Arnold Schwartzenegger films. Saw 'em all. Didn't matter how bad. Too bad that The Running Man was basically the only gem until he started having some fun (in films like Twins). Total Recall for me, was an interesting premise with good effects, but it took it way too far, way too shockingly and explicitly (like the woman with three breasts-- (!)-- um... no). Could have been a lot better.

From the beginning, I liked the world that had been set up, with basically normal clothing (as opposed to uniforms) but with all sorts of cool new technology. I'm not sure what to make of the ending, but it was a nice way to put to rest any of my scientific questions and objections.
